Rasheed Walters was born at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and has spent his entire life in Boston. Raised in Dorchester, Rasheed is a proud survivor of the public education system and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Rasheed has spent his career building businesses, working in media, and using his voice to speak for people who are too often ignored by those in power. As an opinion writer published in the Boston Herald, Rasheed became a voice for the voiceless Bay Stater, writing about the struggles of working people, government failure, corruption, public safety, education, and the everyday issues that affect families across Massachusetts.

Rasheed was also a plaintiff in the historic Boston redistricting lawsuit, standing up against a political process that divided neighborhoods and weakened the voice of voters. At a time when powerful insiders tried to decide the future of Boston behind closed doors, Rasheed stepped forward and helped challenge a map that treated communities like political property instead of people with a right to fair representation.

Now Rasheed is running to be your Congressman in Massachusetts Congressional District 8 because he believes every American is a king. That is why he is running as an Independent—because the people of this country were not born to bow before party bosses, corrupt politicians, corporate donors, foreign interests, or government elites. Rasheed is running to put the crown back where it belongs—on the head of the American people.
